The Geoscience Atlas of Newfoundland and Labrador is a digital map database that contains information on the geology, geochemistry and mineral potential of Newfoundland and Labrador. The atlas was developed by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) in collaboration with Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN).

Newfoundland and Labrador Prospectors Association (NLPA)

The Newfoundland and Labrador Prospectors Association (NLPA) has been serving the province of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) since 2012. NLPA is determined to provide its members with a unified position on issues when dealing with industry and government while also striving to deliver continuing education and training. 


NLPA's mission is threefold: 

1) To act as a strong independent advocacy group and network on behalf of all member prospectors in the province.

2) To partner with other stakeholders, so as to raise awareness about and create new initiatives for prospecting in NL.

3) To develop new educational and training programs, so as to increase the knowledge base and skill level of all our prospectors.

Mining Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MINL)

The Mining Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MINL) also known as Mining Industry NL was established in 2010 to represent and promote the mining industry’s interest in Newfoundland and Labrador. Membership is comprised of mining companies, exploration companies, public/educational institutions, individual prospectors, and companies involved in industry service and supply. 


MINL's mandate is to promote and attract investment to the industry provincially, nationally, and internationally through advocacy and engagement with key stakeholders, partnership with Government, and public outreach. 


MINL and NLPA partner on key issues for the prospecting/exploration community.

NL Department of Industry, Energy and Technology

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Industry, Energy and Technology (IET) is the lead for innovation, economic development and diversification in the province. The department focuses on creating a competitive environment to support private sector investment and business growth; and supporting industries in Newfoundland and Labrador such as mining, energy and technology. 


 Working closely with key stakeholders, the department also develops and monitors supporting regulatory and benefits activities. 


The department is highly supportive of mining and mineral development and the prospecting/exploration community through the provision of tools and resources and mining friendly legislation.
